Peter Garner
Owner-Founder/Instructor
Peter Garner is the founder of Excell Dance Centre, establishing the business in 1999. Peter wanted to provide a space for his children to train in dance and enjoy its many rewards closer to their family home. After almost 19 years, he is now very proud to welcome Amanda, Sebastian and Andrew into the business with ownership, management and teaching rolls. Peter is a fully qualified DanceSport Australia Adjudicator and Ballroom Dance Coach. He has had many years experience in teaching all styles but specialises in Standard Ballroom and New Vogue. He also has a passion for teaching Rock n Roll, Line Dancing and Bridal Couples. In addition, Peter has had an amazing career in Debutant training and is renowned for a very high standard in Deb Set presentations.
Peter instructs the following styles:
- Latin American- Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive.
- Standard- Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep
- New Vogue- Various
- Rock’N’Roll, Line Dancing, Bridal Couples
Amanda Costa
Owner/Instructor
Amanda started Ballroom at the age of 7 and has competed at a high level throughout her 26 years in dance. Partnered by her brother, she was many times National Amateur Champion and even ranked 21 in the world. Partnered by her husband Sebastian she has achieved many National and USA finalist dance titles. In 2006 Amanda was the WINNER of DANCING WITH THE STARS Australia, Season 4, with Grant Denyer and placed 4th in Season 6 with Jamie Durie. She has also worked as a performer for Burn The Floor and Royal Caribbean International Productions in shows including Ballroom Fever, Saturday Night Fever, Centerstage, Fast Forward, Wild Cool & Swingin’ and Luis Van Amstel’s Invitation To Dance.
Amanda is trained in the following dance styles.
- Latin American- Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive.
- Standard- Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep
- Night Club Dances- West Coast Swing, Night Club 2 Step, Hustle, Salsa, Merengue.
- American Rhythm- Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo, East Coast Swing, Bolero
- American Smooth- Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz
- Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop, Argentine Tango, Bridal Couples
Amanda has been teaching classes and private lessons for over 20 years. During this time she
has instructed in Australia and in the USA.
Sebastian Costa
Owner-Managing Director/Instructor
Sebastian has been dancing 23 years, much of this time spent in the world of Competition Ballroom. Throughout his competitive career he was many times National and USA Finalist. More recently he has been working as a Featured Performer in touring shows and stage shows such as Burn The Floor and Royal Caribbean International Productions including Ballroom Fever, Saturday Night Fever, Centerstage, Fast Forward, Wild Cool & Swingin’ and Luis Van Amstel’s Invitation To Dance.
Sebastian is trained in the following dance styles.
- Latin American- Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive.
- Standard- Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep
- Night Club Dances- West Coast Swing, Night Club 2 Step, Hustle, Salsa, Merengue.
